In order to succeed, we do not aim for performance nor for an objective but for harmony.
To get immediate performance, it is better to bet on excellence and the similarity of profiles. But after a while, this performance crumbles because the best get bored and the lesser ones feel left out. A team funded on diversity will take longer to get started but will prove more performing in the long run.
